Minerva Ríos, a ninety eight year old Puerto Rican native, and for many years a member of an East Harlem Senior Center in New York, wrote to us about this meaningful activity:

The Latino Gerontological Center held its traditional Thanksgiving Day Meal on Thursday, November 22nd, 2007.

The 2006 Thanksgiving Day Meals for Seniors was covered by Fox 5 - NY, CNN en Español and Univision-Channel 41 (See videos).

"Thanksgiving Day for the Elderly Without Family" was possible this time thanks to Altria Group, Inc., Anheuser-Busch Inc., Whitsons Culinary Group, Executive Director Adriene Rosell & James Lenox House Board of Directors.

This activity is totally free, and takes place in centers full of friends and warmth. Participants may be surprised with the unexpected visit of special guests. LGC's motto is "On Thanksgiving Day do not stay alone, giving thanks in company is better. Give thanks together with the Latino Gerontological Center."
